Nightguards

A removable appliance worn at night to help an individual minimize the damage or wear that occurs while clenching or grinding teeth during sleep. We would use an intraoral camera to scan your mouth and send to the lab to create the perfect mouthguard for your teeth. Once the nightguard arrives at our office we set up a quick appointment to make sure it fits properly. We'll also set up follow up appointments to make sure the nightguard continues to fit and is properly doing its job.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR NIGHTGUARD:

Similar to a retainer, braces, or any other special dental appliance, it is important to take care of your nightguard by storing it properly and keeping it clean, as well as knowing when to replace your old nightguard with a new one. Here are a few simple ways to keep your nightguard clean and working correctly:

  • Gently scrub your nightguard after each use with a toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • Store your nightguard in a protective case.
  • Do not leave your nightguard in the sun or in hot water, because it may melt or become deformed.
  • Do not chew on or cut pieces off of your nightguard. Nightguards come in different shapes and sizes; ask your dentist which is best for you.
  • Keep out of reach of pets! Dogs will find them and chew/destroy them. A replacement nightguard will cost you so be sure to keep it safe from your furry friends.
  • Bring your nightguard to each dental checkup, so your orthodontist can check to make sure it's still in good shape!
